Marvel Studios initially announced Armor Wars as a Disney+ exclusive series in December 2020. It would follow Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes/War Machine as he tries to prevent the misuse of Tony Stark’s Iron Man technology. In August 2021, the production team hired Yassir Lester as the head writer, and they officially confirmed the project’s development at D23 Expo 2022. However in September 2022, the plans underwent a shift, and now Armor Wars is being developed as a movie.
